2024 Play Hard, Save Big Event!
Ideal for Public Schools, Private Schools, Parochial Schools, Preschools, Daycares, and More!
Schools are designed to help facilitate holistic education for children, and education leaders understand that not all learning occurs within the four walls of the school. Learning through play and kinesthetic strategies have also proven to be incredibly important. In fact, states across the Southeast have passed laws that require elementary schools to allow at least 20-30 minutes of daily physical activity for students. Similar laws also exist which require preschools and childcare facilities to provide each child with the opportunity for outdoor play every day. Lawmakers have joined with educational professionals to affirm that providing children with opportunities for quality outdoor play is needed for the development and growth of each and every child in America. One result of this renewed commitment is the fact that commercial play equipment is really a necessity for every school environment.
Listen to what some of our many satisfied customers and clients have to say about their experience with
Carolina Recreation & Design
I just built a daycare center and called Carolina Recreation & Design to work with me for playground equipment installation. They were great. The crew they sent out was very professional; they followed the timeline they promised. Great company to work with. The playground they gave me will make a lot of kids happy and safe.
Carolina Recreation & Design was very easy to work with when our neighborhood association decided to upgrade the features at the park. From the initial contact to the final inspection, it was a great all-round experience. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to install a commercial playground in their community.
Our church considers Carolina Recreation & Design a part of our family. They have designed and built three play spaces at our church so far. Carolina Recreation & Design creativity, along with their professionalism, make working with them a joy. The final product is safe, current to industry standards, and, most of all, a fun space for the children. We would recommend Carolina Recreation & Design to anyone interested in upgrading their play spaces.
Honestly, there are many reasons you should have a fun, safe playground installed at your school, preschool, or daycare. Commercial playgrounds for school facilities are designed for children to be able to get some needed exercise, develop their motor & social skills, and also be able to have some fun at the same time! Here are just a few noteworthy benefits:
A well-designed school playground empowers kids to leave their screens behind in order to enjoy some needed outdoor play. Having access to the right playground equipment encourages children to experience outdoor activities that are both engaging to them on a personal level, as well as providing a healthy means for individual growth and development.
Playing outdoors is one of the best available avenues for getting the heart pumping and getting those young muscles moving. There’s nothing like giving children the opportunity to enjoy some fresh air and sunshine while stretching their limbs on some exciting playground equipment! Playgrounds are also a strategic way to allow children to grow and further refine their motor skills.
A playground teaches children to work together and also helps them to appreciate the value of engaging with their peers. Gaining these important social skills builds confidence in a child and also helps children to gain important communication skills, particularly when it comes to being able to express their thoughts and feelings.
New and open-ended play opportunities allow children to become more creative and helps them to develop better problem-solving skills, as well. With a well-designed and engineered playground system, no two play experiences are exactly alike. Every single play experience offers its own creative benefits for children.
Think back to your own time as a young student. Some of your greatest learning experiences probably didn’t occur in a classroom; likely, they occurred out in the space of the school playground. And teachers who are intentional can actually use children’s experiences on the playground to help supplement and enhance what they teach in the classroom, including everything from math, to science, to vocabulary skills.
Let’s face it, a long school day can be stressful for a child (or on an adult, for that matter!). Letting children enjoy some physical activity on a playground can facilitate the release of endorphins, which serve to help neutralize the feelings of stress, anxiety, and even depression. Playground activity is also beneficial in that it can aid in the development of other valuable cognitive skills, too.
You know that playgrounds are a staple of elementary schools, but what about for older students? The fact of the matter is that both middle school and high school students benefit from constructive recess opportunities, too. ALL students – middle schoolers and high schoolers included – need some healthy breaks from sitting in their desks all day. Having some age-appropriate play, recreational, and/or fitness equipment onsite is great for students to enjoy both during the school day, as well as beyond it.
When it comes to elementary students, there’s really no debate among parents, teachers, or children’s health specialists. Those kids NEED to be let loose outside every day so they can burn off some energy! At the same time, you can’t just send them out into an uncontrolled environment. Younger children need a play space that’s designed to be fun, engaging, and safe. In other words, elementary schools need a commercial-grade playground. In addition to having a good central playground set installed (or more than one, depending upon the size of your school), you’ll also want to build in some other playground components around it. This could include popular items like swings, bridges, monkey bars, climbers, and some ADA-compliant components for inclusive play. And don’t forget to include some other great freestanding play equipment like sensory play panels, tunnels, sand & water play tables & features, etc.
The fact of the matter is that middle schoolers need as much time and opportunity for outdoor recess as do elementary students. In fact, it could be argued that middle school students need such opportunities even more! Why? Students in this age bracket are facing one of the most awkward times in their lives, and are having to endure all sorts of potential stressors, including changing hormones, a heavier school workload, and many new social pressures. At the same time, their bodies are bigger, and their play interests are different, so middle schoolers also need some different kinds of play equipment. Thankfully, there are several commercial playground sets and play components available that are specifically designed with preteens and younger teens in mind. Outdoor fitness systems and fitness trail elements can be great solutions for middle school students, as well.
High schoolers are simply too old for playgrounds, right? Not necessarily! High school students need daily physical activity too, and they benefit just as much from having healthy breaks from all of their many academic, extracurricular, and social stressors. While many high schools may not choose to install a traditional “playground,” deciding to install the right outdoor recreation and fitness elements is really a smart move. Standalone fitness equipment, wellness equipment, and fitness circuit trail equipment can not only be utilized by students on their own; health teachers and coaches can also take advantage of these elements with their classes and teams, as well. And honestly, you could still choose to include a few freestanding pieces of age-appropriate outdoor play equipment. For example, high schoolers (and adults alike!) still like to swing and go down the slide, too!
